Lorraine Laboratory of Research in Computer Science and its Applications (LORIA)
- LORIA is the French acronym for the "Lorraine Research Laboratory in Computer Science and its Applications" and it is a Joint Research Unit (UMR7503), shared between the CNRS, the University of Lorraine and INRIA. Our scientific work is carried out by 28 teams structured in 5 departments including 15 teams shared with INRIA, for a total staff of more than 500 people.
- Since its creation in 1997, LORIA’s mission has been the fundamental and applied research in computer science.
- LORIA is one of the largest laboratories in the Lorraine area and is embedded into the Scientific Pole of Automation, Mathematics, Computer Science and their interactions (AM2I) at University of Lorraine. LORIA is also member of Charles Hermite Automation, Computer Sciences and Mathematics Federation which gathers the three main research laboratories in Mathematics and STIC (Science and Technology of Information and Communication) of Lorraine.
- Since 2011, LORIA teams have been organized in five departments which correspond to the following relevant themes :
- Algorithms, Computation, Image and Geometry
- Formal Methods
- Networks, Systems and Services
- Knowledge and Language Management
- Complex systems and Artificial Intelligence
- Three main crossed axes of research have been created in 2013 : Cyber health, Security and Cyber Physics Systems.
