Animal and Functionality of animal Products Unit Research (UR AFPA)
- UR AFPA is a laboratory of University of Lorraine associated to the departments "Animal Physiology & Breeding Systems" and "Human Nutrition" of INRA. The lab counts 4 research teams. The concepts of bioavailability and the biological activities are the focus of UR AFPA in scientific questioning and are implemented through various animal types ranging from rodents to livestock.
- UR AFPA’s research objectives are (i) to contribute to the sustainability of livestock through the domestication of new aquaculture species and the safety of products in connection with breeding practices and (ii) to understand the bio functional (positive or negative) impact on the consumer of the presence of certain compounds in food. The negative impacts concern the micro pollutants (PCB, PAH,...) and the positive impacts concern the peptides with biological activity and the dietary lipids.
